Do I have to pay for monthly 3G on a Kindle 3?
I am thinking of buying the kindle 3. I was wondering if I have to pay for the 3G on it monthly, or just when I buy it? If I only want to buy books using the 3G, not surf Internet, do I need to pay monthly?
Tony obviously does not have a 3G Kindle. I've had one for 4 months.
There is no monthly fee or data charges for using the 3G on the Kindle. Amazon picks up the tab.
Web browsing on the Kindle is not very satisfying. It's slow and tedious to navigate using arrow keys. Because of that, Amazon knows folks won't really be doing much web surfing, and will be using the 3G for buying of books.
Furthermore, the product description on the Amazon site says "Free 3G Wireless – No monthly payments, no annual contracts."
