I have question about the movie sweeny todd?
I saw the movie like 10000 times and i never get tired of it but i have on q how come the girl he killed that was his wife had boils and pimples all over his face?? she had perfectly nice skin when they played the flashbacks but they show her now and i don't get why she has alot of boils and things.
I also have another question that girl who was sweeny's daughter was that judge going to marry her?
also was that other british man she threw the key to how do they know each other?
It's very likely she had a venereal disease or more than one. I especially would believe she had contracted syphillis because of her mental imbalance, which goes along with the disease.
If you want to see what the illnesses did to people, watch "The Libertine", starring Johnny Depp. It's amazing how horrible he's made to look, showing the effects of the diseases his character contracted.
Treatments for VD/STDs are relatively recent.
Oh! I missed your other two questions, which seem to have been answered by others. Yes, I think it's obvious that Turpin wants the girl or to use her to control whomever she might be married off to. The boy had been watching her for some time, and she knew he had been. She saw him mainly as a means of escape but also, being a young girl, perhaps as her "knight in shining armor", someone to take her away from that place. At least, that's what I think after my initial viewing; perhaps after I watch it again I might change my mind about all of that. Perhaps others are more familiar with this version of the story.
