Measures to prevent skin cancer can actively reduce your risk of developing skin cancer if you implement in your routine daily. The most common form of cancer in the United States, tens of thousands of Americans contract skin cancer each year.
Skin Cancer comes in three forms: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. Of the three, melanoma is the most dangerous and deadly. Cancer Skin claiming the lives of approximately ten thousand Americans annually.
What are the causes of skin cancer?
Overexposure Solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is regarded as the dominant external factor in the development of a person's skin cancer, but genetic factors may play a role. To protect against UV rays, you should follow the 5 steps below to prevent proper cancer Skin:
1. Avoid direct sun exposure: Avoid exposing your skin to sunlight during midday (usually 10-4). That's when UV rays are most intense. Plan your schedule to avoid outdoor activities during these hours. Also, be aware that sand and snow reflect sunlight, so if you're at the beach or ski resort, direct sunlight can bombard you on all sides with UV light.
2. Cover yourself: When the sun, keep your skin covered. Wear long sleeves and long pants if possible. Wear a brimmed hat 3 to 4 inches is about all one better. This will protect your neck and cheeks of prolonged exposure dangerous. Also note that dry, dark colored clothing offer better protection.
3. Use sunscreen correctly: You should always use sunscreen when sustained prolonged exposure to sunlight. Find a sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 15 and read the directions for proper application. The higher the SPF, the greater the protection you receive against sunburn dangerous. However, sunscreens does not provide "protection" of bullets, and UV rays can penetrate water, so just because you feel cool in the water does not that you're protected against sunburn.
4. Use sunglasses that block UV rays: Make your sunglasses some may UV blocking helps protect your eyes from sun damage severe. The best sunglasses manufactured must have a UV absorption rate of 99% to 100%. Never assume that the dark lenses equal protection. UV rays are blocked by a chemical applied to lenses. 5. Stay Away From Tanning Beds: It is a myth that tanning beds and sunlamps are free of harmful UV rays. These cosmetic instruments might make your skin more attractive in the short term, but may increase your risk of developing cancer of the skin in the long term. Health professionals advise their patients to avoid them.
By implementing these 5 steps in your daily routine, you can greatly reduce your risk of developing skin cancer, while maintaining a healthy lifestyle which allows good exposure to sunlight. Another important step in preventing skin cancer is a routine examination by a doctor. If skin cancer is detected early enough, then your chances of survival are significantly increased.
